For an upcoming project, we needed to have a camera that could record facial expressions and audio at the same time. In ZeroTransform fashion, when we saw the price tag attached to a head mount, our CEO’s first words were, “I bet I could just build one”.
So he did. Feast your eyes on a little day to day office DIY.
He started with a lamp, bike helmet, camera, hardware, and tools.
First, Justin sacrificed a desk lamp for the greater good. All wires were pulled out and stored away in case we ever need them again. Then the base and top where dismantled, taking care not to damage the hinges attached to either side.
Using those same hinges, the camera support was fastened to one end. A piece of bolt down hardware was secured to the left side of the helmet, then the lamp arm was screwed in to place.
Ta-da! We’ve been thinking about putting a counter weight on the other side of the helmet for comfort, but our actors said it wasn’t necessary. There you have it!
